Description

painted with two panels of chinoiserie figures within lustre-filled cartouches embellished with iron-red foliate scrolls, separated by branches of indianische Blumen, the cover with similar vignettes, with iron-red diaper panels, gilt-scrolls, and puce scrolls at the rim edge, crossed swords mark in blue enamel, gilt numeral 13. to both

Cranfield University used non-invasive X-ray fluorescence (XRF) for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was detected, a result consistent with later manufacture.
