painted with European figures in countryside or riverside landscapes, within quatrefoil gilt-edged cartouches, the interior of the basin with a spray of flowers and small sprigs, the gilt-barbed rim of the basin with a gilt-scroll band to the interior, crossed swords marks in underglaze blue, impressed numeral 20 to basin, 21 to inside edge of footrim of water jug, the silver-gilt mount with décharge for Paris, 1744-1750
