Description

painted in a Kakiemon style enriched in gilding, with panels of tall flowering branches issuing from banded hedges, alternating with flowering branches issuing from blue rockwork, with small sprigs and insects above, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, dreher’s mark of a letter M to one, MB monogram to other

Another bottle, from the Put Collection, was sold at Sotheby’s, London, 24 November 1998, lot 23, having previously appeared at Christie’s, London, 6 February 1978, lot 199.
