Description

the vase and cover painted with roses within gilt laurel-edged reserves against the green ground, the upper border in friezes of pierced oves, with a seed-shaped handle, on a short pedestal

Our model is similar to the green-ground pot-pourri vase with reserves of roses dated around 1765, held at the Petit Palais in Paris (inv. OTUCK126(4)). A similar garniture was sold in the Doha / Paris collection, Un Décor Princier, Sotheby’s, Paris, 30 June 2021, lot 217.
