Description

with three drawers, the opposite side with dummy drawers, with rococo decoration, on cabriole legs, with a later red leather top; (bronzes partly regilt, some bronzes replaced)

The openwork gilt-bronze mounts with slightly scalloped rocaille motifs adorned with small flowers appear on several pieces of furniture stamped by the cabinetmaker Jacques Dubois:

-A bureau plat with marquetry, formerly in the Willy Blumenthal collection;

-Another example found at the Maurice Segoura gallery in Paris in 2002;

-A lacquered secrétaire from the Homberg collection;

-A secrétaire  reproduced in P. Verlet, Les Ebenistes du XVIIIe siècle Français, Paris, 1963, p. 102;

-A commode sold at the Hôtel Drouot, 23–25 November 1922, lot 285;

-A commode sold at the Hôtel Drouot, 4 December 1986, lot 127;

-A bureau plat by the same cabinetmaker, at the Cleveland Museum of Art (inv. 1942.591), features the same bronze mounts framing the central drawer.
