Description

in the form of an urn with satyr mask handles, the rotating chapter rings inset with enamel numerals for the hours and five-minute intervals, the time indicated by a cut steel star set amongst billowing clouds, the plinth base containing the movement with silk suspension and star-cut outside count wheel striking on a bell, the backplate signed Chles Dutertre A Paris, the sides inset with lacquer panels depicting animals and insects in stylised landscapes


Haut. 40 cm; Height 15¾ in

Charles Dutertre watchmaker, received master in 1758. Among his most important clients were the Count of Artois and Prince Charles of Lorraine.
