This type of production is characteristic of Boulard's work. He delivered several very similar sets of seating for Louis XVI at the Château de Compiègne, starting in 1785, notably for the King's library and for the former bedroom, as illustrated by L. Condamy in Louis XVI et Marie-Antoinette à Compiègne, 2006, pp. 150-153.
