One side of the pendant is skilfully detailed with scrollwork reminiscent of that seen on a Hongshan culture jade mythical man preserved in the Beijing Palace Museum, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum: Jadeware (I), Hong Kong, 1996, pl. 10.
