Description

12-inch dished enamel dial bearing the signature Gribelin A Paris, centre seconds, the movement with pin wheel escapement, weight driven by endless rope, end plates to the third and escape wheel pivots, the decorative grid-iron pendulum suspended from an A-frame between the dial and front plate, beat adjustment on the crutch, the pendulum with a large lenticular bob, the associated and earlier case with shaped hood, glazed bombé trunk, the flared base on a serpentine stand, the whole with crossbanded panels of parquetry and applied with gilt foliate mounts, stamped to the rear MARCHAND; (regilt, some gilt-bronzes mounts a later addition)
