Description

opening with three drawers on each side, the top with rounded edges, fitted with later red morocco leather, with curved feet topped with mascarons and fitted with hoof feet, the drawers lined with gold-embossed paper on a red ground

A comparable desk, of smaller size, was sold by Christie’s, Paris, on 11 December 2003, lot 326. Also presented as probably German, it featured very similar bronzes, except for the side mounts, which were less elaborate than those on our example.
