Haut. 38,5 cm, larg. 31 cm ; Height. 15 ¼ in, width. 12 1/4 in

This pair of candelabra is inspired by a design made by the ornamentalist Just Aurèle Meissonier, published in his work "Oeuvres de Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier, à Paris chez Huquier" in 1730, illustrated in H. Ottomeyer and P. Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich 1986, vol I, p.104, n°2.1.5. The model enjoyed great success throughout the 18th century but also in the 19th century when the rocaille style was revived, notably by Empress Eugénie.
