This clock representing the Arts of Painting and Sculpture is a rather rare variant of the Allegories of the Arts, a recurring theme on clocks during the reign of Louis XVI. A clock representing the allegories of Sculpture and Astronomy is illustrated in Tardy, La Pendule Française, Vol. II, Paris, 1975, p. 257.
