A Pair of Louis XVI Carved and Giltwood Marquises or Causeuses attributed to Georges Jacob, Circa 1784
the rectangular back and seat rails richly carved with a rosette and entrelac frieze; the armrests carved with a braided ribbon pattern and acanthus; on circular fluted bulbous feet decorated with acanthus and leaf tips; each covered in pale persimmon velvet with conforming tasseled cushion; the inside rails of each bearing a stenciled inventory number 22604 and stamped DE for the Directoire Exécutif; one stamped three times II and inscribed twice in pencil 19/3/48

Transferred in July 1791 to the Grand Cabinet of Queen Marie-Antoinette (1755-1793) in the Tuileries Palace, Paris;
Transferred to the Luxembourg Palace, Paris for the use of the Directoire Exécutif, 1795-1799;
