A Sèvres Porcelain Green-Ground Plate (Assiette à palmes) from the Service given by Louis XVI to Emperor Joseph II of Austria, circa 1776
painted with a bouquet of flowers at the center, the border with three oval cartouches of painted flowers within moulded scrolls, edged with gilt ribbon-tied fronds, issuing entwined berried leaves and flower garlands, suspended from loops, the shaped rim edged in gilding, interlaced LL mark in pink enclosing date letter y for 1776, painter's mark FB for François-Marie Barrat (active at Sèvres between 1769-91, 1795-96), indistinct incised letter X(?)
