8vo (169 x 94 mm). Italic type, 30 lines plus headline. collation: A-Y8 AA-EE8 FF4: 205 leaves (of 220, lacking D6-FF4, the “Apologia pro Socrate” and “De Tyrannide”). Title-page printed in black and red with woodcut device. (Title and A2-3 soiled with a few rust holes, wormhole though textblock costing some text on line 6-7, dampstained.)


binding: Contemporary French brown calf over wooden boards (179 x 101 mm), tooled in blind, broad frame flanked by four fillets of diapered roll, each interstice containing a flower, same roll vertically twice in central panel, four full bands, two half bands, blind fillets flanking bands, crosshatching in compartments, traces of two clasps. (Binding worn and refurbished, with repairs at ends of spine and edges, new endleaves, preserving contemporary pastedowns.)
