binding: Nineteenth-century vellum (191 x 155 mm), six leather bands piercing covers at spine, flat spine, red morocco labels, gilt, title label with hand holding horn with motto "Ever Ready," traces of two pairs of ties, red edges. (Extremities faintly darkened, pastedowns splitting along edges from slight bowing of boards, with paper repair to front pastedown.)
