4to (208 x 145 mm). Roman type, 32 lines plus headline. collation: *-**4 A-Z4 AA-FF4: 124 leaves. (Dampstain to first and last three quires, early inscription washed from title, marginal chip to upper edge of *2, intermittent light spotting.)


binding: Eighteenth-century mottled calf (214 x 159 mm), double gilt fillets around sides, spine with seven compartments flanked by gilt fillets, red edges. (A couple of very small wormholes to spine.)


provenance: Unidentified owner, inscription "Ex lib. Sancti Mariae… sclitio indie (?)" washed from title-page (16-17th century) — St Benedict's Abbey, Fort Augustus, Scotland (Benedictine monastery), ex libris — Christie's London, 16 February 2001, lot 70. acquisition: Purchased from Phillip J.
