Another copy, from the library of the Orléanais poet Florent Chrestien (1541-1596), a former pupil of pupil of Henri Estienne, who became tutor and later librarian to Henri IV.


4to (200 x 139 mm). Roman type, 37 lines plus headline. collation: A4 a4 B-Z4 Aa-Ll4 Mm-Oo4 Pp-Ss4: 168 leaves. Woodcut Aldine device to title-page and verso of last leaf, guide letters in initial spaces, historiated initials, woodcut illustration of coins. (Very light dampstaining to last leaves, title-page shaved at upper margin affecting inscription, closed tear to gutter of title-page, some marginalia shaved including G4v.)


binding: Eighteenth-century polished tan calf (206 x 145 mm), spine gilt, marbled endleaves, red edges, green silk tie. (Title on spine rubbed, joints cracked.)
