Second edition, 8vo (209 x 134 mm). Roman and italic type. collation: A6 B-3B8 3C-3F4: 398 leaves (plus full-page engraving on unsigned leaf bound before L8). Half-title with woodcut on verso, title-page with engraved vignette, numerous in-text engraved and woodcut illustrations. (First 3 leaves of first gathering detached, some browning and transfer from illustrations onto facing leaves, lacking engraved frontispiece portrait of Dibdin by Henry Mayer after Henry Edridge.)


binding: Nineteenth-century dark blue morocco gilt (217 x 143 mm), covers stamped in gilt and blind, spine with four half bands, title lettered in gilt on second and bottom compartment, other compartments with decorative gold tooling, edges gilt and gauffered, green patterned endpapers, inner dentelles. (Extremities slightly rubbed.)
