A Very Rare Small Venetian or Facon de Venise Latticinio Glass Vase, Late 16th Century
decorated in vetro a retorti and vetro a fili the slightly compressed globular form with spiralling bands of white latticinio threads alternating with pairs of white tapes extending into the tapered cylindrical neck

Perhaps the closest known parallel of this very rare form appears to be a small vase with a shaped foot in the Musée Ariana, Geneva (inv. no. AR 12214), illustrated and discussed in E. Baumgartner, Reflets de Venise : Gläser des 16. und 17. Jahrhunderts in Schweizer Sammlungen, 2015, pp. 140-41, cat. no. 51, where the author also illustrates a shaped latticinio vase applied with lion masks and prunts, illustrated by which exhibits virtually identical vetro a fili and vetro a retorti decoration (Baumgartner, ibid, cat. no. 50).
