Le Parfaict Joaillier Ou Histoire Des Pierreries… Lyon: Jean-Antoine Huguetan, 1644
8vo (176 x 107 mm). Engraved printer’s device on title, two folding tables, woodcut illustrations in text, woodcut ornaments and initials; the title with an ink library stamp, and a few marginal chips to the title, dampstaining to the preliminary leaves, pale spotting to folding tables occasionally in the text. Contemporary vellum; boards bowed outward, lightly soiled, an envelope containing an old spine label laid in.
The first French language edition of De Boodt’s Gemmarum et Lapidum Historia, based on the 1636 second edition, which was revised and enlarged by Adrian Toll. This translation includes a considerable number of annotations by the translator, Jean Bachou.
