Description
Barba, Alvaro Alonso
[Arte de los metales]. Docimasie oder Probir- und Schmelz-kunst & heraus gegeben von Matthia[s] Godar. Vienna: Peter Conrad Monath, 1749
8vo (171 x 105 mm). 8 engraved folding plates including frontispiece, gothic type, woodcut ornaments; very slight foxing, German partial library stamp on back free endpaper. Original boards, hand-lettered spine label; hinges restored, some wear.
Matthias Godar's prefatory text exemplifies the extent of Barba's fame throughout European scientific circles. His title-page specifically mentions the "noteworthy" copperplates, probably cut specially for this new edition of the German translation.
