Small 8vo (132 x 87 mm), gothic type, title-page within woodcut border, a few washed early modern annotations, later blind-tooled calf, title-page remounted and reinforced with tissue, f4 torn at lower margin (with loss of catchword), E4 with tear at outer margin (with loss of printed marginal gloss), a few other margins cut close, some staining (mostly marginal), rebacked, endleaves renewed


"A popular sensible treatise on healthful living, with sound and practical advice on the recognition of the commoner symptoms of disease, as well as what to do about them" (Hunt). This edition was the first to contain Elyot's preface, replacing the dedication to Cromwell.
