rectangular, the lid and sides formed of a patterned whiskey-coloured hardstone with inclusions resembling tiger's eye, small malachite thumbpiece with a gold double ropetwist mount, gilt-metal hinge, the base centred with a small oval plaque, signed: Chaumet Paris, the clasp with a post-1918 French eagle's head control mark and maker's mark,
