A rare Lyon counterfeit of the Aldine Sallust, described by Shaw as the earliest dated imitation known to him.
8vo (162 x 96 mm). Italic type, 30 lines. collation: a-o8 p4: 116 unnumbered leaves. Guide letters in initial spaces. (Title-page a little soiled.)
binding: Early twentieth-century brown morocco (166 x 100 mm), two gilt fillets around sides, "A" inside gilt six-pointed star on upper cover, "M" on lower, marbled endpapers. (Upper cover detached, joints rubbed.)
