FIRST EDITION OF THE FIRST CATALOGUE OF GREEK MANUSCRIPTS IN THE ROYAL LIBRARY, MADRID. The author, in his capacity as Royal Librarian, was instrumental in shaping this collection. Included in the catalogue is the collection of the famous Byzantine scholar Constantine Lascaris (1434-1501), transcribing Lascaris' accompanying notes and occasionally related correspondence. Sadly, Iriarte died before the project of this library catalogue was completed, and the first part was the only volume published.

Folio (350 x 241 mm). Greek and roman type, printed in double columns. collation: π4 b-c4 d2 e1 cancel leaf A-4C4 4D2: 305 leaves. Half-title, woodcut headpieces and initials. (Some dampstaining at ends of textblock).


binding: Contemporary Spanish red morocco (357 x 252 mm), 3 gilt fillets around sides, gilt fleur-de-lys in corners, spine gilt with 2 black labels, gilt edges, marbled endpapers. (Some minor staining at edges of boards.)
