A HANDSOME COPY OF BOCCACCIO'S ALLEGORICAL POEM IN A CONTEMPORARY PARISIAN VELLUM BINDING. The poem comprises fifty cantos in tercets in a Dantesque form and structure and was originally composed between 1342 and 1343.
8vo (154 x 98 mm). Italic type, 30 line. collation: A-I8 K7: 79 (only, of 80 leaves, lacking the final blank). Title-page with woodcut device, woodcut device on verso of final leaf, woodcut initials throughout. (Some spotting.)
binding: Parisian vellum c.1560 (160 x 100 mm) over flexible pasteboards, gilt quatrefoil at outer angles, gilt medallion on sides, spine lettered in gilt, traces of fore-edge ties, edges gilt. (Small tear at head of spine.)
