First edition of Heinlin's only scientific work.


As a theologian and Professor of mathematics at the University of Tübingen, Heinlin’s only published scientific work served as a general survey of mathematics, with sections on geometry, astronomy, geography, optics and others, published a year prior to his death. The folding plate features volvelle on page 316 is intact and uncut. He made the acquaintance of Kepler after having been made pastor in Oberriexingen in 1621.


8vo (151 x 90 mm). Numerous in-text woodcut diagrams, woodcut initials, 1 folding diagram; a few leaves with minor repair, some unopened, paper flaws to Ddd, a few leaves misfoliated but otherwise complete, a few spots and stains throughout. Stiff vellum, manuscript title on spine, yapp edges, fore-edge speckled blue; text block nearly detached, vellum soiled and rubbed, partial loss to head of spine and lower corner of front board predominately affecting yapp edge.
