These paper-weights are inspired by the work of François Duquesnoy (1597-1643), one of the greatest sculptors of the Louis XIII period. This artist worked primarily in Rome, and his small sculptures and bas-reliefs featuring putti or children are highly sought after by collectors. Our group depicts two children embracing, a recurring theme of Duquesnoy's that can also be found on one of his terracotta pieces held at the Louvre Museum (inv. TH41).
