This pair of consoles from southern Germany, with their exuberant carvings, is quite similar to some consoles preserved in the Munich Residenz, and more specifically those made after Josef Effner, with similar dragon decorations (inv. M229 and 230). They can also be compared to the consoles made after François de Cuvilliès the Elder for the Munich court, also preserved in the Munich Residenz (inv. M238, 239, 240, 241), and made around 1730 and illustrated by L.Brigitte and A.Württenberg in Die Möbel der Residenz Munchen Vol.II, 1996
