Description
each reserved with a brown-ground quatrefoil panel, decorated in gilding with chinoiserie figures within an elaborate gilt-scale border, and with gilt flower sprigs over underglaze-blue, the rims with a gilt-scale-ground border edged with scrolls and foliage, script F / K marks in underglaze-blue

The decoration in gilding on this teabowl and saucer draws on chinoiserie designs used by the hausmaler decorators at Augsburg earlier in the 18th century. For a waste bowl and a sugar bowl, possibly from the same service, see Beatrix Freifrau von Wolff Metternich and Manfred Meinz, Die Porzellanmanufaktur Fürstenberg, Munich, Vol. II, p. 432, fig. 317, where the authors attribute the underglaze-blue painting to the flower painters, Johann Cristof Kind and Pierre Remou.
