RARE FIRST GERMAN TRANSLATION of this famous medieval treatise on health, containing the sum of medical knowledge in c.1000 AD, and based on the health tables of the medieval Arab physician Ibn Butlan. The chessboard-like tables, called 'Chessboards of Health', provided medical guidance in a layout previously reserved for astronomy and law, allowing information about diagnoses, treatments, and healing to be displayed in a tabular form for the first time.
