Description

Quintilianus, Marcus Fabius

Institutionum oratoriarum libri duodecim. Venice: Aldus Manutius and Andreus Torresanus, 1521 (but 1522)

4to (207 x 127 mm). Woodcut Aldine device on title-page and final leaf, colophon dated 1521; occasional ink annotations, some light spotting. Later vellum.

A handsome Aldine edition of Quintilian’s Institutionum oratoriarum, the most influential rhetorical treatise of antiquity, presenting the art of eloquence as the union of wisdom and moral integrity.
