A catalogue of the Library of the Chemical Society, arranged according to subjects, with indexes containing authors’ names and subjects. London: Harrison and Sons, 1886
8vo (210 x 130 mm). Very lightly toned but otherwise clean. Half polished calf over purple moire cloth boards bound by John Bumpus, spine in six compartments, second gilt-lettered, others with repeat floral motif, marbled endpapers and edges; extremities rubbed, staining to upper cover.
The Chemical Society was formed in 1841 under the leadership of English chemist Robert Warington. Originally comprising 77 fellows passionate about the scientific field, the society later became the Royal Society of Chemistry.
