chased on each side with a coat of arms below a coronet and fringed canopy topped by baskets of flowers, flanked by strapwork panels rising from urns on eagle supports, all against matted grounds, the spine with a similar basket, the straps with engraved bellflowers, marked on front and back panels, spine, and clasps; together with a modern French Bible to fit, but not mounted within

Gaspare Vanneschi (active 1758-1781) was patronized by Rome's Jewish Community, including for a large silver chandelier of 1760 preserved in the Synagogue in Rome, and a Hanukkah Lamp for the Baraffael family, 1773-75, acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, in 2018 (accession no. 2018.89).


The arms are a version of those of the Morpurgo family.
