Count Boutourlin, or Buturlin (1790-1849) was a Russian military historian and bibliophile who eventually became librarian of the Imperial Russian Library. He is best known for the two libraries he assembled during his lifetime. The first, which had over 4,000 printed books, was lost during the 1812 burning of Moscow. The second, which he assembled in Florence over a collecting period of around 15 years, contained hundreds of manuscripts, around one thousand incunables, an extensive Aldine collection, and various other notable works. This is the catalogue of his second library, which was dispersed at auction in Paris between 1839 and 1841.
