Second edition of this series of woodcuts by Bernard Salomon, first published in 1557.

Small 8vo (170 x 112 mm). Roman and italic type. collation: a-l8 m3: 91 leaves (of 92, lacking m4 terminal blank). 178 woodcut illustrations by Bernard Salomon within elegant woodcut borders, marginal drawings in red chalk on i1r and l8r. (Lower covers of first 8 leaves restored, title soiled.)


binding: Eighteenth-century half roan over marbled boards, blue edges. (Binding rubbed at extremities.)
