Fasciculus temporum. [Cologne]: Heinrich Quentell, 1479


Royal folio (380 x 272mm.), 71 leaves (of 72, without initial blank), b-f10 g-h8 [i6], 587 lines, gothic type, woodcut illustrations and diagrams, rubricated throughout and with red manuscript foliation, old blind-ruled vellum, stubs from two pairs of ties, occasional soiling or staining, a few small marginal tears (larger one in e8, last leaf repaired in gutter, stained and slightly soiled, binding soiled, small tear at head of spine


A pleasant and unrestored copy of Rolewinck's chronicle. Rolewinck (1425-1502) spent most of his life at the Charterhouse of Cologne, making a scholarly reputation for himself in theology, scripture and law. This brief compendium of world history, however, proved to be his most popular work, being printed regularly from 1470 onwards.
