The first work being "A copy of the 1509 Aldine edition with the date in the preliminary letter changed to 1510. Possibly printed in 1510" (Shaw). In UCLA the date is given as "ca. 1512"; USTC as "Lyon, s.n., 1510." Rare.


The Cicero has "Paradoxa" correctly spelled on the title, without the paging errors noted by Baudrier for two similar editions.


2 works in one volume, 8vo (149 x 87 mm). Italic type, 30 lines plus headline. collation: (1) a-s8 t4: 156 leaves; (2) a-q8: 128 leaves, foliated. Red Giuntine lily device to first title, guide letters in initial spaces. (Dampstaining to title-page and a few other leaves of first work, head-edge of a8 repaired, p.167 of first work duplicated on verso of a8 (which should be a blank), small area of working to final quire of second work.)


binding: Eighteenth-century vellum over pasteboards (155 x 98 mm), two dark green morocco labels. (Closed tears to pastedowns, vellum a little spotted, labels chipped at edges.)


provenance: Unidentified owner, inscription "G.A. Fiars" endleaf (eighteenth century) — unidentified owner, inscription "J.L.
