8vo (175 x 112 mm). Italic and Roman type, 28 lines plus headline. collation: +8 A-T8 (+1 and T8 used as pastedowns): 160 leaves. Woodcut Aldine device on title-page and final verso, woodcut headpieces and initials, margins ruled in red. (Staining to upper margin, occasional browning and spotting.)


binding: Contemporary limp vellum (180 x 117 mm), paper pastedowns from a contemporary French manuscript. (Scattered staining, lower corner of upper cover damaged.)


provenance: Initials "A.R." below Aldine device on title, with motto "Satis morituro", probably Antoine Rambaud de Furmeyer (1521-1566) (Chassant & Tausin, Dictionnaire des devises, II, p. 459) — E.K.
