“Gamaches was a member of the French Royal Academy of Science and here gives nine dissertations on the Nature and Laws of Movement, the Principles of the Philosophy of Newton, the Theory of the Planets, etc., and a clarification of relative movement and Newtonian attraction” (Babson).
4to (242 x 185 mm). 22 folding engraved plates, foliated initials, woodcut vignettes; title soiled, marginal dampstaining throughout, leaves lightly toned, a few spots. Contemporary calf; worn, boards and free endpaper detached, joints cracked.
