First edition of the scientist's most famous work on acoustics.


The Swiss mathematician, scientist, and philosopher Leonhard Euler "contributed more to theoretical acoustics as the subject is now known than has any other man" (TNG).


Large 4to (258 x 190 mm). Engraved title vignette of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, 3 folding engraved plates of music, 2 folding tables, 1 engraved table; some foxing primarily to prelims. Contemporary speckled calf, covers with gilt borders, spine with raised bands in six compartments, second and third gilt-lettered, others with repeat device in gilt, edges speckled red, marbled endpapers; wear to extremities, some restoration to spine.
