Description

Morden, Robert

An Introduction to Astronomy, Geography, Navigation, and Other Mathematical Sciences... London: R. Morden and R. Smith, 1702

Includes an index of "handy geography" that lists major cities and rivers in the Americas, as one would expect from an author who was principally a map and globe maker. A scarce work at auction.

8vo (186 x 122 mm). Eight engraved plates including engraved world map at the end depicting California as an island, Florida, New England, Virginia, "the land of parrots," and Hollandus Nova; mild spotting, rear blanks stained. Contemporary paneled calf; joints a little weak.
