This expansive view of Valletta's Grand Harbour during a storm relates to a series of canvases of comparable dimensions by the Maltese artist Alberto Pullicino (1719–1765) depicting views of the island and harbours of Malta. The present work comes closest to a painting in the National Maritime Museum, London.1
