Description

with two doors, decorated with panels of floral marquetry, with a brèche d'Alep marble top, branded to the top ML beneath a crown within an oval, stamped A/3223/73 and indistinctly 3661[?] or 566.1 almost erased, with ink inscriptions « NoII », « SOS9 » and « 1139 » the reverse with a square paper label GARDE-MEUBLE MAPLE/Cesse/Sala, further inscribed ; (the sides re-veneered, altered, marble restored)

Almost certainly originally supplied circa 1750-1755 as one of a pair of cabinets to Louise-Elizabeth de France, Madame Infante, Duchess of Parma (1727-1759) for her apartments at the Palazzo Colorno.

Very probably Marie-Louise, Duchess of Parma, formerly Empress Marie-Louise, wife of Napoléon (1791-1847).

At Palazzo Colorno at least until 1855.
