the first, painted with a phoenix perched on top of a flower bouquet in a painted gold-coloured raised vase, the white background painted with trelliswork and caparisoned tasseled borders, scrolling silver stopper, apparently unmarked, 8.3 x 3.9 x 2.7 cm.

the second, a silver scent bottle in the shape of a pilgrim flask, engraved with a bird, plumy foliage and tendril decoration, the stopper connected to the collar with a brass chain, England, c. 1680-1690, maker’s mark DS; 5.9 x 3.1 cm
