of oblong shape, painted in Kakiemon style with the 'Fliegender Hund' or 'Flying Fox' pattern, above an elaborate chequered brocade pattern, brown-edged rim, the underside with Kakiemon sprigs, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue

A near identical dish of this rare type painted in the same pattern was in the Collection of Earl Fitzwilliam, sold, Sotheby's, London, 30 June 1981, lot 116; and a third example is illustrated in Meissener Porzellan des 18. Jahrhunderts aus Bad Pyrmonter Privatbesitz, exh. cat., Museum im Schloss Bad Pyrmont, 2002, p. 75. A further dish of this form, painted with a variation of the brocade pattern and Kakiemon wheat sheaves was in the Hoffmeister Collection, sold at Bonhams, London, 25 November, 2009, lot 26.
