opening with three drawers, decorated with floral marquetry and scrolls, with curved legs joined by a stretcher and fitted with sabots, with a grey turquin marble top surrounded by a gallery, stamped I. DUBOIS

The works of Jacques Dubois (1694–1763) were some of the foremost of the Rococo period in France, and they are present in the greatest collections including the Louvre (OA 6083, OA 6600 and others), the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (45426) and the Metropolitan Museum (1972.284.2). He was received as a master craftsman (maître) in 1742, and is particularly associated with pieces incorporating East Asian lacquer, though he also displayed considerable range in his veneered and marquetry pieces.
