Description

rectangular with slightly waisted sides, the lid later set with a panel chased with a cipher for Frederick Lewis, Prince of Wales, below the motto 'Ich Dien' chased in high relief, on a matted ground, within chased strapwork of trellis, shells and rocailles, small thumbpiece and correspondingly curved border to the base, the base later engraved with a crowned monogram for his consort, Princess Augusta, within rocailles and scrolls, partially legible maker's mark 'u' or 'a' in Gothic script,
