Description

Berzelius, Jons Jacob

Forsök, att, genom anändandet at den electrokemiska theorien och de kemiska proportionerna, grundlägga ett rent vettenskapligt system för mineralogien. Stockholm: A Gadzelius, 1814

8vo (210 x 127 mm, uncut). Very minor dust-soiling. Publisher's blue wrappers; torn on edges, spine partially perished. Cloth case.

The Norman-Freilich copy. First edition, extraordinarily rare. "It was Berzelius & who, by improving the methods of chemical analysis through his own investigations and by inspiring and directing the work of other Swedish chemists, led the way to a more widespread recognition of the paramount place which chemistry must occupy in the study of mineralogy" (Adams, The Birth and Development of the Geological Sciences). The present copy of this rare chemical treatise is virtually as issued.
